► Diagnostic & Preventive
Regular & Periodontal Prophylaxis
Regular dental hygiene and routine periodontal exams allow Bayview Dental Associates to monitor your oral health and clean under your gum line where it is difficult to reach with a toothbrush. Our experienced doctors can take care of your entire family.

Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride applications help to strengthen the enamel on your teeth and is especially important for children. Fluoride is also especially important for patients who are undergoing orthodontic treatment and older adults with conditions such as low salivary flow and/or exposed root surfaces or recession. For cavity prevention, it is recommended that children receive an exam and fluoride treatment every six months.

Sealants
Sealants are a protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to help prevent decay in the hard-to-reach grooves. Dental sealants are typically applied as a child's permanent teeth erupt, although adult molars can also be sealed if there is no evidence of decay.

Nightguard Therapy (Occlusal Guard)
Also known as an Occlusal Guard, Nightguards are used to prevent damage to chewing surfaces of the teeth due to grinding or clenching. Nightguard Therapy is a successful and highly recommended option for patients with TMJ dysfunction. By creating an acrylic pattern of your teeth, Bayview Dental Associates can help protect your teeth from unnecessary wear.

► Restorative Procedures
Bridges
A fixed dental bridge is typically used to help create a normal bite when one or more teeth are missing. A bridge can also help prevent stress on the dental arch, prevent shifting of other teeth, and slow the onset of periodontal disease. Bridges are usually made of gold or porcelain-faced gold and composed of abutments (sound teeth on either side acting as supports), and the span (a metal frame attached to the abutments with artificial teeth attached to it).

Crowns
A crown is a restoration procedure that covers an existing tooth to preserve the functionality of a damaged tooth and restore it to its normal shape and size. A crown may be used to protect a weak tooth from fracturing, support a large filling when there is little tooth structure remaining, or used to create the support for a bridge. A tooth that has been treated with root canal therapy will require a crown to provide strength and support to the tooth. Bayview Dental Associates uses crown materials that will provide the longest lasting benefits for you, our patients.

Implants
Dental implants are an effective and durable replacement for teeth that have been missing since birth or have been lost due to gum disease, infection, trauma, or decay. With implants, patients no longer experience the slipping, moving, and irritation of dentures because dental implants look, feel, and function like a natural tooth. Implants are composed of a metal post that is highly compatible and easily fused with the jawbone. An oral surgeon or periodontist recommended by Bayview Dental Associates performs the surgical procedure for implants. Our doctors will partner with your surgeon to follow your treatment to the restorative phase.

Dentures
Patients who have several teeth missing or are left with no remaining teeth due to disease, decay, or trauma, often turn to dentures. Partial dentures can be used if there is an indication of some serviceable teeth present for support in conjunction with the gums and jawbone. A partial denture is removable and provides form and function for those with missing teeth. If there is no support structure, then full dentures are recommended to maintain a proper bite, to chew properly, and to prevent a sagging facial expression. The beauty of dentures today is that they are designed to be comfortable and functional and are similar in appearance to natural teeth.

► Cosmetic Procedures
Tooth Whitening
Tooth whitening procedures are designed to elicit a brighter, whiter smile by reducing tooth discoloration, staining, or dullness from years of exposure to agents like coffee and tea. Our at-home whitening system, in conjunction with an office procedure, offers patients a teeth whitening option that is comfortable and affordable. The procedure begins with impressions of your mouth to prepare custom fitted trays. A specific whitening program is designed just for you and the process is completed in the comfort of your own home.

White/Composite Fillings
Made of tooth-colored material, composite (white) fillings restore the teeth's natural beauty because they can be matched very closely to your natural tooth color and are virtually indistinguishable from non-restored teeth. Composite fillings are an excellent option for front teeth, but may be suggested for selected sites on molars. The composites we use at Bayview Dental Associates have proven to be extremely durable and stain resistant.

Veneers
Dental veneers are thin, customized, semi-translucent porcelain facings that are bonded to the front of the teeth. Veneers are durable, stain resistant, and offer a natural look that can cover worn tooth enamel, uneven tooth alignment or spacing, and chips or cracks. Dental veneers can create the bright, white smile you've always wanted.
